Making Decisions


Senario

Hone has just made it into the school cricket tea. Hone is fielding on the boundary line.  A ball comes straight for him on the full and he catches it.  Everyone cheers.  Then he notices his foot is over the line - therefore the player is not out at all and has hit a six.  The umpire didn’t see and asks Hone whether he caught the ball over the line or not.   What could Hone do?

A. List Options:
He could tell the truth

He could lie and say his foot wasn’t over the line

He could be honest.

B Say what is right or wrong about each option.
Option 1
The right thing to do is tell the truth is right

Option 2
Tell a lie is wrong

C.  Say what would be the consequences of each option for everyone concerned.

1.
The consequences are if he tells a lie somebody else is sure can see it.

2.
When try lie there's a time that day you will feel guilty.

3.
If you are trying to lie you will feel weirdness travelling around your body hotness, sickness, and sweating.

S. Say what values you think lie behind each option and tick those that reflect gospel values -  the values of Jesus.

Responsibilities, Humble, Fairness.

Guilty, Sin, Disobey

Honest, owning up, perseverance.

E. Say which option you would have chosen and why.

1.Tell the truth because you won’t feel guilty, and you’ll know you’ve done the right thing.

Say the right thing instead of lying.

Cannot escape the dishonesty so it will be better to own up.
